Dear Silicon Maps, Inc.

We typically send out our maps to existing clients and qualified prospects in our calling region. As we have visited these companies, we do find the maps prominently displayed. We have also received follow up requests from certain companies who have enjoyed them to the extent that other higher level staff within those companies requested copies for their offices as well. On the prospect side, we have repeatedly heard the comment that they “aspire” to be on the map. The comment is based on the occasional misconception that all others on the map are our clients, or that when they have reached some milestone, they will achieve this type of recognition, although neither have been suggested. All responses to this annual distribution have been positive, and we hope to be able to continue this in years to come. We are looking forward to next years Silicon Desert map!

As you are aware, the high tech industry is critically short of qualified engineers and other key personnel needed for our businesses in Southwest Washington to remain competitive and grow. Workforce projections indicate that we will face labor shortages for some time to come.

We have found that the Camas/Vancouver area is relatively unknown to many job candidates, as is the growing presence of high tech companies in the area.

One of the promotional items Sharp and several other companies will be handing out at job fairs to prospective candidates to highlight the growing presence of high tech in the Southwest Washington and Portland area are “Tech Forest” calendars. These artsy calendars/maps graphically show the plethora of high tech companies in the area. Sharp has been featured on these calendars in past years and will be continue to be featured on future years calendars along with Wafer Tech and UL.

I’d like to solicit your participation in the map/calendar. The stronger presence we as a high tech community have not only on these calendars, but also in every endeavor we collectively work on, the better we’ll all be at attracting high quality job candidates to the area. Aside from the promotional aspects of the calendar for hiring purposes, it reflects the general high-tech image of the area.

The Tech Forest calendars are produced by Silicon Maps, Inc. The point of contact there is Mike Desrosiers. His email address is: mike@siliconmaps.com or phone: (925) 314-1130, ext. 11. You can view the calendars at www.siliconmaps.com.

Dear Silicon Maps, Inc.

I just wanted to let you know what a huge success our participation with Silicon Maps has been. This is our second year using the maps as a “Happy New Year and thank you for your continued business” gift for our customers. the maps are an economical way for us to show our appreciation to our customers. Plus, the packaging of and by sending the maps in the New Year it separates us from all of the other holiday mailings.

We have received numerous compliments and requests for additional maps. A quick story for you, our corporate president (CyberOptics Corporation is located in Minneapolis, MN and has a separate marketing department) visited a common customer who had received our mailing. The customer proudly pointed out the Tech Forest map hanging on his wall. Needless to say our corporate president was thrilled (especially to see CyberOptics name right next to such giants as Microsoft and Intel) and he requested additional maps to be prominently displayed throughout our corporate office.

We look forward to participating with Silicon Maps for years to come.

Sincerely,
